The Horizon Brief

Editorial Standards & Disclosures

Trust is the entire product for a newsletter like ours. This page explains how we approach accuracy, sourcing, disclosures, and corrections.

Our editorial approach

Every article and newsletter edition is written to be factual, general, and non-advisory. We aim to explain how financial mechanisms work, mortgage pricing, credit scoring, retirement account rules, and so on, rather than to tell any individual reader what to do with their own money. Where figures, limits, or regulations are cited, we favor describing the mechanism and pointing readers to check current primary-source figures, since numbers like contribution limits and rates change over time.

Sourcing

We base our explainers on publicly available information from primary sources where possible, including government agencies (such as the Federal Reserve, the IRS, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics), regulatory bodies, and established financial industry data. We do not publish unverified rumors or speculative claims about specific companies or securities.

Independence

Our editorial content is not influenced by any advertiser, sponsor, or affiliate partner. Coverage decisions, what we write about and how we explain it, are made independently of any commercial relationship.

Affiliate links

From time to time, an article may include an affiliate link, a link to a third-party product or service that could result in compensation to us if a reader signs up or makes a purchase through it. When an affiliate link is present, it is clearly marked as such near the link itself. The presence of an affiliate relationship does not influence our underlying factual explanation of how a financial product or mechanism works.

Corrections policy

When we identify a factual error, whether flagged by a reader or found internally, we correct it as soon as practical. For website articles, we update the article directly and revise the "Updated" date shown at the top of the piece to reflect when the correction was made; the original "Published" date is preserved for transparency. Material corrections may include a brief note describing what changed. To report a suspected error, see our Contact page.

Not financial advice

Every article on this site includes a disclosure that it does not constitute personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. This is a genuine, load-bearing statement, not boilerplate: our content is designed to inform general understanding, not to replace the judgment of a licensed professional who knows your specific situation. See our full Terms of Use for the complete disclaimer.
